Description
Steph SIMON (1902–1982) (GALLERY) & ELEMENT by Serge MOUILLE (1922–1988) ‘Agrafée’ model Adjustable desk lamp with a U-shaped bracket. The double-articulated arm is made of black-lacquered tubular metal. The aluminium reflector is black-lacquered on the outside and white on the inside – originally fitted with a switch. Metal ball joint. H. approx. 50 cm – D. approx. 63 cm Shows signs of wear, scattered scratches; the switch on the reflector is missing. Please note: In 1959–1960, whilst Serge Mouille was stepping back from business for health reasons, Steph Simon marketed several types of light fittings incorporating elements designed by Serge Mouille, including this lamp model (as well as a lamp resting on a base designed by Isamu Noguchi); this was done with a degree of freedom in the choice and use of arms and/or ball joints not designed by the artist.
