A violin-shaped cartouche with a wall-mounted bracket, featuring marquetry decoration on the upper section in brass set against a tortoiseshell background, depicting floral scrolls, tendrils and spirals. Ornamentation in chiselled and gilded bronze in the Rococo style. White enamelled dial with cartouches and Roman numerals, and a movement signed ‘Marc Delamarre, Paris’. Some bronze ornaments are hallmarked with a crowned ‘C’ (a hallmark applied to bronze pieces between March 1745 and March 1749). Louis XV period. (Modified Brocot-style suspension; one worm-eaten rod on the reverse of the suspension bracket; restorations; minor losses and lifting in the marquetry). Height of the cartouche: 81 cm.
