Collection of Sufi poems by the famous Persian poet Rumi (Molana Jalal-e-Din Mohammad Molavi Rumi). Illuminated manuscript on paper, dated 1123 AH (1711 AD). Six books in one volume (31.5 x 22.5 cm), apparently complete (one poorly bound collection at the end of the volume), 408 leaves plus an additional endleaf at each end, text in four columns, 17 lines of bold black nasta'liq, 6 brightly painted heads, painted in yellow, orange and red with flowers and arabesque shapes drawn in a primitive manner, some leaves with blocks of text circled in black, key words throughout. A few quires and bifolios detached or coming loose from binding, a few scattered ink stains and traces, some inscriptions on endpapers in a slightly later hand, handsome eighteenth-century Safavid green bindings with three stamped cartouches in centre, cold fillets, inner boards with die-cut designs on stamped paper using silver, yellow and red paper, extremities chipped with a little lacking, boards slightly scuffed.
