Description
CARTIER ‘Panthère’. Bracelet in 800-th silverium and 750-th yellow gold, featuring articulated rectangular links joined by rings, with a secure clasp (minor scratches). 1990s. Signed and numbered 262110. Master Goldsmith: Lucien VACHEY (registered 12 October 1963). Length: 20 cm – Width: 0.6 cm Gross weight: 42.9 g Note: A Parisian jeweller and goldsmith, Lucien Vachey began developing innovative techniques for jewellery-making as early as the 1960s. In particular, he pioneered Silverium, an alloy of silver and platinum to which a specific process imparts a characteristic black hue. The silver, blackened throughout its mass, takes on a dark, uniform colour whilst retaining the metal’s properties and malleability. This expertise led him to work for major houses such as Hermès and Cartier, for whom he produced numerous designs. He collaborated in particular with Cartier during the 1980s and 1990s, who used this material in several pieces from the Panthère collection.
