2012 The Stone From Your Heart SWATCH ART SPECIAL (SUOZ139S) by Mathieu Mercier Extremely rare presentation box Watch numbered 302/777 on the back of the case Brand new, never worn A collaboration with the international artist Mathieu Mercier, who draws his inspiration from 20th-century European ‘avant-garde utopias’. Limited edition of 777 numbered pieces, presented in special packaging. The watch is set within an elegant circular structure made of transparent burgundy plastic, the size of a bangle, and can be worn as a piece of jewellery in its own right. The dial, adorned with a multicoloured kaleidoscopic print, references Mercier’s archives. It is surrounded by a solid black 41 mm plastic case, attached to a solid black silicone strap. Mercier said he was inspired by the clocks featured in his artworks: “I was greatly inspired by my collaboration with Swatch. I make extensive use of the concept of time in my exhibitions, just as I do with clocks in my artworks. ‘Time is fascinating because it eludes any attempt to understand it better. The more we pursue it, the more abstract it becomes. The design chosen by Swatch is taken from a series of paintings by the artist that began in 2003. It is a kaleidoscope revealing the artificiality of our pictorial codes and cultural values.”
