Description
Georges Braque (1882-1963) - Last messages, Galerie Maeght, Paris. Printed by Arte, Paris. 70x42cm. Original poster, lithograph. Not canvas-backed. Condition A. Perfect condition. Produced for the series of posthumous exhibitions and publications devoted to Braque by the Galerie Maeght, this poster is one of a series of tributes paid to the artist after his death, as part of the distribution of his graphic and pictorial work by the major Parisian galleries. A founding figure of Cubism alongside Pablo Picasso, Braque developed a major body of work centred on the deconstruction of forms, still life and a constant search for balance between structure and visual poetry. The title Derniers messages (Last Messages) is part of the late reading of his work as a synthesis of his plastic language, often taken up in the tribute editions of the 1970s.
