Description
Odilon Redon (1840-1916) d ' après- Cent ans de vision nouvelle, photographie et peinture, 1955. Bibliothèque nationale, Paris. Imprimeur Mourlot, Paris. 56x45cm. Original poster, lithograph after cliché. Not backed. Condition A- Very small marginal tears. Created from a work by Odilon Redon for the exhibition Cent ans de vision nouvelle, photographie et peinture (One hundred years of new vision, photography and painting) presented at the Bibliothèque nationale in 1955, this poster is part of a historical re-reading of the links between painting and photography, a century after their profound changes in the 19th century. A major figure in Symbolism, Redon developed a singular body of work, marked by the imaginary, dreams and a poetic exploration of the visible, which had a lasting influence on modern movements, from Surrealism to abstraction. Printed by the Mourlot workshop, a key player in twentieth-century art lithography, this poster is of the highest technical quality and is part of the tradition of major French cultural publications.
