Marc Chagall (1887-1985) - Saint Jean Cap Ferrat. 1952. Lithographer Charles Sorlier. Original lithograph on wove paper. Signed in pencil, countersigned, dated, located in Vence, with a letter to Anne Marie Pasquet in ink. The plate : 68x49,5cm ; the sheet : 92x60,5cm. A small vertical tear of 3cm in the V of Vence, a small tear of 3.5cm in the right margin, slightly oxidised paper. This print is one of a small number of separate proofs reserved for the artist. This subject is based on a 1949 gouache used to illustrate the poster for an exhibition of the artist's work in Nice in 1952.
