Description
BRASILLACH (Robert) – Poèmes de Fresnes, a print run of two copies, copy 1. Typescript. Ex-libris by Jean LARTEGUY.
Robert Brasillach, born on 31 March 1909 in Perpignan and executed by firing squad on 6 February 1945 at Fort de Montrouge in Arcueil, was a French man of letters, journalist and collaborator. In addition to his literary activities, he is best known for his political involvement with the far right: having come up through Action française, he moved towards fascism in the 1930s (whilst continuing to write for *L’Action française*). During the Occupation, he advocated active collaboration with the Nazis and became editor-in-chief of the collaborationist and anti-Semitic newspaper *Je suis partout*. After the Liberation, during the purge, he was tried for collusion with the enemy, convicted and shot.
Formerly part of the Jean LARTEGUY collection, acquired from the estate of Mrs L.
