Provenance: collection of Laurent Danchin (1946–2017), writer, essayist and art critic, passed down through the family. Born in Maquela do Zombo, Lundangi fled the Angolan civil war as a child, went on to become a professional footballer in the national team, and then settled in France in 1990. He took up drawing and then woodcarving, creating an imaginary Africa that straddles the line between dream and memory, and took part in the ‘Africa Remix’ exhibition. Laurent Danchin has dedicated the book *Franck Lundangi, peintre* (Editions de l’Œil / Sankofa & Guril, ‘Les Carnets de la création’ series, July 2003) to him.
