Louis Chabaud (French, 1941–2023) The Man with Two Hats Polychrome ceramic. Signed on the foot. Height: 26 cm. Provenance: the collection of Laurent Danchin (1946–2017), writer, essayist and art critic, passed down through the family. Born in Aubagne, and encouraged by the santon maker Marius Chave, Chabaud shifted the focus of his work around 1975 towards a ‘poetic and delirious’ world blending painting and ceramics; settling in Praz-sur-Arly, where he founded the Festival d’Art Hors-les-Normes.
