Abdellaziz Ladhari (Tunisian, born 1956) ‘My Mother’s Hold’, 2002 Canvas. Signed and dated, titled on the reverse and inscribed. Height 65, width 56 cm. Provenance: the collection of Laurent Danchin (1946–2017), writer, essayist and art critic, passed down through the family. Born in M’Saken, Tunisia, and having settled in France at the age of seventeen, Ladhari worked in a variety of jobs before devoting himself entirely to painting in 1998, depicting inner worlds populated by characters with specific roles.
