A superb pair of men’s ceremonial clogs Made of carved, engraved, stained and varnished wood, with black glass half-spheres for the eyes. The toes of each clog are carved with a hen’s head and her twelve chicks, positioned facing each other. The opening of each shoe can be concealed by a fitted lid, decorated with a fox lying in wait. The bodies of the shoes are decorated with zigzag lines and striations on the hens’ heads to imitate plumage, and a pattern of superimposed lines around the chicks.
