Description
Michel FROMENT (born 1951) ‘Petit cochon’ floor lamp in black-tinted heat-plasticised metal. Signed with a stamp on the back of one of the pigs. One-off piece. Height: 190 cm
Note: French designer Michel Froment has, since the 1990s, been developing a distinctive practice at the crossroads of design and sculpture. His formal vocabulary favours organic volumes, playful silhouettes and a free-spirited approach to function. The ‘Petit Cochon’ series exemplifies this approach: the furniture takes on a sculptural and narrative dimension, thanks to its zoomorphic and deliberately offbeat forms. Somewhere between a functional object and a work of art, these creations stand out for their playfulness, expressiveness and formal freedom.
