AGATHON LEONARD (1841–1923) (ALSO KNOWN AS LEONARD VAN WEYDEVELD) Singing Dancer No. 2 and Dancer with a Daisy No. 7, size No. 3, models derived from the series *Le Jeu de l’écharpe* created around [1900] and exhibited at the 1900 Paris World’s Fair Two decorative sculptures. Bronze casts with a medal-like patina. Early Art Nouveau-era casts. Bases in Levanto marble. Each sculpture is signed ‘LEONARD Sclp.’ and bearing the stamp of SUSSE Frères Editeurs Paris, surmounted by an ‘M’ on one, at the base of the garment. Height of sculptures alone: 25.5 cm Height including bases: 29.5 cm Public collections and related works: - Museum für Angewandte Kunst, Cologne Another bronze cast of the Singing Dancer (no. 2), size no. 1, is held in the collections of this institution under inventory number Ov 69. - Hessisches Landesmuseum, Darmstadt Another bronze cast of the Dancer with a Daisy (no. 7), size no. 1, is held in the collections of this institution under inventory number Pl. 64: 5. - Musée des Beaux-Arts, Reims Another bronze cast of the *Dancer with a Daisy* (no. 7), size no. 2, is held in the collections of this institution under inventory number 941.3.218. Exhibition and related works: Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts Paris, Grand Palais, 1901. Six bronze figurines from the *Danse de l’écharpe* series were exhibited at this event.
