Description
LOUIS MAJORELLE (1859–1926) A rare variant of the ‘Vigne’ or ‘Viorne’ model, without the eponymous carved decorative motifs, circa 1905 A rare piece of living room furniture serving as both a serving trolley and a sideboard, crafted from ribbed, moulded and carved walnut. The frame and base feature highly ornate, deeply carved curvilinear grooves. The front features a central panelled door, surmounted by a drawer, and two side doors and two side niches. The top features a pediment and ornate, carved arcades. The drawer handle is in its original patinated bronze. H. 181.5 cm W. 172.5 cm D. 52 cm Public collection and related work: Museum of Art Nouveau, Samara (Russia) A slight variation is held in the collections of this institution.
