Description
MAISON LELEU JULES & ANDRE LELEU (1883–1961) & (1907–1995) 4427, piece of furniture made on 31 January 1953 Secretary desk in sycamore veneer and marquetry. The front, featuring a diamond-patterned marquetry design, opens via two solid doors at the bottom, a flap in the centre—revealing an interior fitted with compartments and drawers and equipped with a lighting system—and a drawer at the top. The front legs are turned and fitted with brass caps. The lock plates are in gilded bronze featuring various motifs. Shows signs of wear. Complete with its parchment-style certificate signed by J. LELEU and bearing the inscription: ‘This piece of furniture, designed by J. LELEU, was executed under his supervision.’ It bears the number 4427 and is numbered 25703 on the back.
