American Sulky "Spider" in yellow lacquered wood with black fillets and wrought iron. Late 19th-early 20th century. Diameter of wooden spoked wheels: 150 cm Length of stretchers: 238 cm Width: 154 cm Sulky: American name, from the verb "to sulk", because you were alone on board. Araignée: French name, the large wheels and long stretchers evoking the profile of the Aranéide. Provenance: The Ballière family, one of the great dynasties of breeders, owners and managers of the Trotting institution. René (president of the Société du Demi-Sang, later SECF, from 1935 to 1970), Henri (main designer of the Grosbois Training Centre, 1962), Jacques (Hérouvillette stud), Jean (Le Bois stud)...
