BYZANTINE GOLD CROSS PENDANT WITH GLASS INLAYS. Ca. AD 700 - 1000. A gold cross pendant with a suspension loop above a box-built cross of wide rectangular arms, each bounded by a continuous beaded border. The centre has a circular bezel with a serrated edge, set with blue glass, and the vertical shaft and lateral arms are inlaid with rectangular pale glass plaques. Size: 40mm x 26mm; Weight: 9.5g Provenance: Private UK collection; From an old British collection formed in the 1990s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
