Dating from his formative years, it predates his studies at the Vkhutemas and his subsequent involvement with the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (AKhRR). Fedor Bogorodsky (1895–1959) was a Russian and Soviet painter, graphic artist and teacher. Born in Nizhny Novgorod, he received his initial artistic training under L. M. Diamant before moving to Moscow in 1914, where he studied painting and drawing whilst attending lectures at the Faculty of Law at Moscow University. From 1922 to 1924, he continued his artistic training at the Vkhutemas under Abram Arkhipov. A member of the AKhRR, Bogorodsky travelled to Germany and Italy between 1928 and 1930. He subsequently became a lecturer at the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), received the Stalin Prize in 1945 and was elected a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Arts in 1947.
