Dimitri Krasnopevtsev was a non-conformist Russian painter, associated with metaphysical art and the Moscow underground movement. Trained in Moscow, he developed a quiet, introspective world, comprising minimalist still lifes with stylised forms and muted tones. His work, imbued with spirituality and a meditation on time, departs from official realism and stands out as one of the most distinctive bodies of work from the second half of the 20th century in Russia.
