Description
Sewing kit in a box. Circa 1850 The rectangular box, resting on four small ball-shaped feet, contains a two-tiered sewing kit. It comprises a pair of scissors, an awl, a round thread holder, a needle case, and a mother-of-pearl die, pierced and engraved. Also included are an awl, a die and a silver needle case (damaged), and a small round moulded glass vial. The lid of the box is fitted with a mirror. The trays are lined with purple velvet. Complete with its key. Accompanied by a marquetry needle case depicting a young woman from Nice holding a dog on her lap, set within a medallion. The word ‘Nice’ is inscribed on the reverse.
