Description
Two miniature portrait paintings depicting Franciscus Wolffers and Antoinette Wolffers-de Gendt from Delft, 19th century.
Square frame with an oval portrait painting, ebonized wood and convex glass.
Franciscus Wolffers (Admiral), son of Laurens Wolffers and Gertuida van den Berghe; painted in Delft, 1818.
Signed 'De Selima'.
(H: 16 cm x W: 14 cm).
Square frame with an oval pendant with a gold mount (tested as 21k) and finished with a rosette inlaid with a pearl, ebonized wood.
Antoinette Wolffers, Baronne de Gendt (1783–1853).
(H: 11 cm x W: 10 cm).
The Wolffers, van den Bergh, and de Gendt families were 19th-century entrepreneurial families from Delft, closely linked through marriage, the spirits industry (distilleries), and trade.
