Description
ANDRÉ AUCOC 18TH-CENTURY-STYLE SILVER POWDER DUSTER André Aucoc, France, 19th century hallmarks: ‘Minerve’, signed ‘A. Aucoc’, numbered 17 x 7 cm gross weight: 358 g André Aucoc (1856–1911) was a French jeweller and silversmith, brother of Louis Aucoc of the Aucoc firm founded in 1821. Fascinated by the golden age of French silversmithing, André collected the finest examples of 18th-century French silverware. His work includes numerous pieces that are exact historical replicas, both in their design and in the techniques used to craft them. He draws inspiration not only from his personal collection but also from the countless drawings and engravings by Bérain, Lepautre, Ballin, Meissonnier, Germain, Roettiers, Odiot and Thomire, which he discovers in the archives.
