Miron DUDA (Nowy Sącz 1893–Pruszków 1950) Nude with a Basket of Fruit Painted in 1925 Oil on canvas 60 x 73 cm Signed, localised and dated lower right “M. Duda Paris 925” Miron Duda was born in Nowy Sacz, south of Kraków, in 1893. He studied under Wojciech Weiss at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków from 1913 to 1914 and then from 1917 to 1922, where he met the ‘Formists’. In 1924, a solo exhibition was held in his honour at the Zachęta Gallery in Warsaw. Miron Duda lived in Paris between 1924 and 1938. In particular, he exhibited his still lifes at the Salon d’Automne. He was particularly interested in the female nude and in depictions of women at their dressing tables. E.V
