This painting depicts a calm space, frozen in time, where the white-framed fireplace is unlit, with no sign of human presence. The dressing table and the furniture surrounding it, including the space reflected in the mirror, are composed of superimposed square shapes. Although the motifs are flat and inorganic, the overall effect exudes a rhythm and a joyful, luminous atmosphere.
Towards the end of his life, Czóbel began to use warm, luminous colours, such as red, yellow, orange and green.
In this work, he uses primary colours in every corner of the canvas, creating a striking contrast by emphasising the black outlines. The result is a painting with a strong visual impact.
