Catalogue of the Crawford Library of the Royal Observatory. Edinburgh, 1890 (Reprint, 2002). In-4, VIII, 499 pp, publisher’s cloth binding. Description of 10,000 books on astronomy, with collations. Never reprinted, it had, until now, been impossible to find. - [HERSCHEL, William & John]. The catalogue of the Herschel library. Compiled by Isabelle Herschel. New York, 2001. Sturdy in-8 volume, XII, 578 pp, illustrated cardboard binding by the publisher. The astronomical library of William Herschel (1738–1822) was expanded by his son John (1792–1871). The handwritten catalogue was compiled in 1899 by John’s youngest daughter. It was this manuscript, supplemented with bibliographical notes, that was used to produce the printed catalogue. 3,360 entries, with a few facsimiles included as inserts.
