Description
Sober and elegant 19th century single shot percussion shotgun. Front lock, signed of the arms manufacturer Jean Louis WINDISCH A NIMES (1818 / 1881).
Calibre 18 mm with the mouth.
Personalized attribution to LECLERE Bte in gothic letters engraved on the thunder.
Reinforcement welded under the barrel (in the spirit of the weapons Harpers Ferry).
Very nicely engraved with scrolls and floral subjects.
Chrome finish with some wear and rubbing from use.
Good original period wooden ramrod with brass tip.
Good walnut wood, finely checkered when gripped, throughout with no splinters or wormholes and with beautiful, artistically inlaid fittings, with no gaps or play.
The daisy-engraved screw heads are very attractive.
Cover plate in the same finish.
Total length 1.22 m including 83 cm of barrel to thunder.
There is a barley grain sight at the end of the tube.
Note: a chip in the percussion area of the hammer (discreet on the front), which is otherwise functional and has a nice scroll on its crest. The chimney is clearly visible and not crushed.
The sling flap is missing from the ramrod support guide, but is still present at the bottom of the stock.
