Description
Large Lorraine-style two-section dresser/sideboard in moulded solid oak (door panels in burl walnut?). The lower section opens via two double doors and two drawers running along the base. The upper section is open, featuring a scalloped pediment and three shelves for displaying plates. Dimensions: H 229 cm W 194 cm D 58 cm This sideboard is said to have been given by General de Gaulle himself to his housekeeper, Madame Voluchenèdre; its matching piece (the last two photos) can be found at La Boiserie, the General’s former family home in Collombey-le-Deux-Eglises. It came into the possession of his son, Father Guy Voluchenèdre (an auxiliary priest of the Diocese of Langres), who then sold it to the previous owner of the current seller.
