In Latin and French, illuminated manuscript on parchment.
France, Centre ? Pays de la Loire ? circa 1470-1480.
With 3 large illuminations (probably 5).
126 ff, preceded by one endpaper and followed by two endpapers, several missing (see Text below) [collation: i11 (of 12, lacking vii; vi detached from seam), ii6 (of 8, lacking i and ii), iii8, iv8, v8, vi8, vii7 (of 8, lacking i), viii8, ix8, x8, xi6, xii8, xiii8, xiv8, xv8, xvi7 (of 8, lacking viii, probably blank)], bastard script in brown ink, 13 lines of text per page (justification: 45 x 30 mm), headings in pale red ink, initials painted red and blue, initials in liquid gold or silver on dark red or blue backgrounds (1 to 3 lines high), three large miniatures in curved format, inscribed in illuminated frames with coloured acanthus leaves, flowers and grotesques or zoomorphic hybrids on reserved backgrounds (ff. 88, 117, 122).
Bound in nineteenth-century havana calf, spine with 3 bands, cloisonné and fleuronné, "Manuscript" in gilt lettering, gilt framing on covers (fleurons and wavy motifs formed of small gilt dots), gilt fleuron in centre of covers, gilt dots on edges, gilt inner garland, turned marbled paper endpapers and flyleaves).
Upper spine dulled, corners dulled, some rubbing. Parchment damaged and missing on f. 66, ff. 74-78 and the last three leaves, without affecting the text.
