With 13 engravings (mid-page, including the typographical mark) heightened in colour, one small engraving (in black on a red and gold ground).
Engravings from the series produced for Germain Hardouin known as the "Duodez-Serie für Germain Hardouin".
In-16 (or petit-in-8), 109 ff [missing 3 ff.] [collation : A1-8, B1-8, C1-8, D2-6 (lacking D1, D8), E1-8, F1-8, G2-8 (lacking G1), H1-8, I1-8, K1-8, L1-8, M1-8, N1-8, O1-8], Roman characters, ruled in red ink, initials heightened in liquid gold on pale blue or red ground, 13 engravings with major liturgical divisions, extended by an architectural frame in liquid gold with hanging festoon clusters, text on engraved pages framed by liquid gold baguette.
Bound in glazed brown calf, smooth spine, Rocaille-style gilt decoration on covers, gilt edges (upper jaw split, headpieces dull, a few wormholes at tail of spine).
Size of binding: 130 x 83 mm; size of leaves: 120 x 80 mm.
Lacombe, 1151: "Belin. Catalogue de livres rares, 1902, n° 387". - Moreau, IV, 1531, 191 (or 190?). On these engravings see Tenschert and Nettekoven, Horae B. M. V.: 158 Stundenbuchdrucke der Sammlung Bibermühle, Ramsen, 2003, III, p. 1026: "Duodez-Serie für Germain Hardouin". They are used in two editions in the Tenschert collection, III, nos. 129 and 130 (c. 1538), with a colour very similar to the present engravings.
Colophon (sig. O8v): "Ces presentes heures a l'usaige de Romme tout au long sans rien requerir ont esté nouvellement imprimées a Paris par Germain Hardouyn Libraire juré de l'université de Paris demourant audit lieu entre les deux portes du palays a l'enseigne saincte Marguerite".
