This copy is enhanced by an autograph dedication signed by the author: ‘To Jean Paulhan, my friend, Georges Bataille’. Jean Paulhan published several of Bataille’s texts in the *Nouvelle Revue Française* and supported him when he launched his own journal, *Critique*, in 1946. A few stains and watermarks on the cover.
