Description
[BATAILLE (Georges)]. BOUNOURE (Gabriel). Manuscript: *Bataille, the Cursed Poet*. *The Sacrifice of Dardanus*. No place, no date [probably c. 1962]. 12 pp. in-4, cream-coloured paper, presented in two stapled bundles. Autograph manuscript written in black ink with numerous corrections, deletions and additions in black and red pencil by Gabriel Bounoure (1886–1969). A disciple of André Suarès and poetry critic for the *Nouvelle Revue française*, Gabriel Bounoure writes here an article on Bataille and the profound spiritual and poetic dimension of his work: The essential, unique significance of Georges Bataille lies in having set out on this path ‘without any possibility of stopping’, with such impatience with the limits of man, with such a need for the boundlessness of man, that he forbade himself in advance any rest along the way.
Some passages have been rewritten two or three times, with a few modifications.
