Rodolphe Bresdin (1822-1885) Interior of peasants in the Haute-Garonne. 1858. Etching. 110 x 165 mm. Van Gelder 92. A very rare light proof on flying chine or thin vellum, of the 1st state (of 2) of the etching, before the reduction of the copper and before the new work, notably the modification of the pious image, of the mother's face, and other modifications in the composition, irregularly trimmed inside the plate cut and pasted on cream laid paper. Small lack at the left edge of the chine. Dry stamp: Rodolphine Bresdin (Lugt 2194). Van Gelder lists only 3 proofs of this state. Ex-coll. H. M. Petiet (Lugt 5031).
