Description
BOUCHES-DU-RHÔNE (13) – “MARSEILLE, view of the entrance to the Old Port from the hills”. 19th century. Original DRAWING (probably by Félix Benoist) in graphite and highlighted with white gouache, on brown vellum paper. Provenance: From the collection of the Charpentier studio, run by Pierre-Henri (1788–1854) and his son Henri-Désiré (1806–1883), printers and publishers based in Paris, then in Nantes (from 1854). 28 x 47 cm. Condition B (a few short tears along the edges of the sheet, a crease in the top left-hand corner and a small loss in the top right-hand corner, slightly sun-faded).
