PIRANESI, Giovanni Battista (1720–1778) – ‘Veduta del Porto di Ripa Grande’ (View of the Harbour of Ripa Grande). c.1753. Original etching. Proof of the 3rd state out of 6, with the barge in the centre of the composition erased and the price erased, on laid paper with a watermark (double circle), with the address “Presso l’Autore a Strada Felice nel Palazzo Tomati vicino alla Trinità dei Monti A Paole due e mezzo”. Ref.: Hind, no. 27 (iii/vi). Plate from the “Vedute di Roma” series. Good margins. 55 x 80 cm. Condition A/B (slight trace of an original vertical centre fold, a few light foxing spots in the good margins, binding holes in the left margin and a short tear in the lower margin).
