RARE ROMANO-EGYPTIAN GOLD SNAKE ARMBAND Ca. 30 BC - AD 200. A gold armband formed from a plain circular rod with overlapping terminals. One end terminates in a serpent's head engraved with scales, and the other is bent into a coiled hook fastening. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 18.2.20. Size: 105mm x 95mm; Weight: 35g Provenance: From a central London private collection; earlier acquired on the UK art market before 2000. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
