PAIR OF GREEK GILT-BRONZE BIRD-SHAPED PROTOMES Ca. 500 BC.
A pair of gilt-bronze protomes, each in the shape of the forepart of a bird with a curved neck and lowered head. The plumage is engraved with overlapping bands of pointed feathers across the neck. The lower edge expands into a broad circular base with a raised border, pierced at regular intervals for attachment. Accompanied by a modern custom-made display stand.

Provenance: Private London collection; previously acquired from a Belgian collection (1980s-1990s).
