EGYPTIAN RED JASPER FACE INLAY AND POLYCHROME GLASS COLLAR New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. A pair of inlays, from left to right: a polychrome glass collar composed of fused bands in yellow, red, blue and black; and a red jasper inlay in the shape of a human head in profile, with an elongated neck marked by two flesh folds, a rounded chin and a prominent ear pierced by a circular depression in the lobe. The face has an almond-shaped eye, arched brow, straight nose and full lips; the eye and eyebrow, now empty, were originally inlaid.
