LARGE EGYPTIAN FAIENCE SEKHMET FIGURINE/AMULET Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A faience amulet of Sekhmet standing with the left leg advanced on an integral rectangular base. The lioness-headed goddess wears a long close-fitting dress and a striated tripartite wig with a striated mane, with a uraeus at the forehead and a ribbed suspension loop behind. Her left hand holds a papyrus sceptre with a long stem extending to the base. Size: 90mm x 30mm; Weight: 22g Provenance: Private UK collection; From an important collection of a Gentleman (1913Ð2012) of Egyptian artefacts, bought 1950-70Õs. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
