PHOENICIAN JASPER SCARABOID WITH HOPLITE IN GOLD PENDANT Ca. 500 BC. A red jasper scaraboid with a smooth convex back, engraved on the underside with a hoplite kneeling on his left knee in profile, wearing a crested helmet and holding a shield in his right hand and a spear in his left. It is mounted in a gold pendant with granulated terminals, coiled wire sections, and a suspension loop. Size: 27mm x 26mm; Weight: 6.1g Provenance: Private UK collection; Ex private family collection of a North American gentleman, 1980-90Õs. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
