Description
NOZELENNOU or Breton peasant "buttons" in brass and tinned or silver-plated metal, presented on a black percaline-covered cardboard box with a handwritten collection label from the late 19th century.
Exceptional set of 72 round or square buttons, used in traditional costume with various popular subjects, characters and portraits, animals, flowers or geometric motifs (some from religious or political commemorations, venery, navy, military uniforms of the Empire and Restoration).
BRITAIN, 18th and 19th centuries.
Size of stand: 35 x 26.5 cm. Diameter of the buttons: 1.3 to 2.8 cm (Beautiful patina).
