Description
Jean SIGNOVERT (1919–1981) “Tramassac”. Etching on Arches paper. Signed and dated (19)70 in graphite in the bottom right-hand corner. Marked “Artist’s proof H on Arches” in graphite in the bottom left-hand corner. Dry stamp “Antarès éditions d’art Saint-Cloud” in the bottom left-hand corner. Under the printed mat: “Catalogue Antarès E C 23” (invisible as it is torn). On the reverse of the mat is the print’s certification, accompanied by a biography of Jean Signovert. This etching was printed in an edition of 135 copies and 10 artist’s proofs (HC) marked from A to J, including this one. Dimensions at the edge of the plate: 38 x 49.6 cm. Sheet dimensions: 49.5 x 63 cm. Torn mat with gaps. Provenance: Jean SIGNOVERT’s studio collection.
