Serge POLIAKOFF (1900–1969) Red and Blue Composition – 1974. Four-colour etching and aquatint. Numbered “HC XV/XV” in pencil in the bottom left-hand corner. Plate executed by Jean Signovert. Rivière XLII. Bears a printed inscription on the reverse: “Etching executed by Jean Signovert after a gouache (1969) by Serge Poliakoff, printed on Duchêne Angoumois paper in a run of one hundred proofs, all numbered, comprising 75 proofs accompanying the first copies of ‘Serge Poliakoff, les estampes’, Arts et Métiers Graphiques – Yves Rivière, publishers; 10 artist’s proofs marked ‘e.a.’ from 1 to 10; and XV studio proofs.
