LOUIS VUITTON. Exceptional “MONTEREY LVII” wristwatch in glossy green: Round case (37mm) in glossy green ceramic and gold-tone metal. White dial, railway-track minute track, red skeletonised syringe-style hands, date display on the outer edge with crescent-moon hands, alarm function indicated by a gold syringe-style hand. Crown at 12 o’clock. Esa 926311 quartz movement. Green Vuitton leather strap with a gold-tone metal pin buckle bearing the LV logo. Signed and numbered on the back. The ceramic case forms a continuous, pebble-shaped shape with no visible lugs. The strap does not attach to the outside: it slides directly into the case via a slot on the back of the watch. Short production run: 1988–1993. In good overall condition. No presentation box or documents. This version in glossy green ceramic is highly sought after by collectors. Collector’s watch The LV Monterey marks Louis Vuitton’s historic entry into fine watchmaking in 1988. Designed by the Italian architect and designer Gae Aulenti (best known for her work on the Musée d’Orsay), the Monterey is now a cult collector’s watch. Recognisable by its organic ‘Galet’ case: made from ceramic or gold depending on the model, the case is distinguished by its fluid, perfectly rounded lines and the absence of visible lugs. The crown at 12 o’clock: Positioned at the top of the case rather than at 3 o’clock, the winding crown evokes the shape of traditional pocket watches whilst offering a modern symmetry. There are two versions of the Monterey: the LV Monterey I, a remarkable quartz watch housed in an 18-carat yellow or white gold case, offering world time, alarms and moon phase functions. Produced in very limited numbers and extremely rare, it served as the basis for an equally sought-after variant. The The famous LV II Monterey (the one we are presenting here), with a green or black ceramic case, features an alarm function with a distinctive dial and brightly coloured contrasting hands. Produced between 1988 and 1993. In 2025, LOUIS VUITTON relaunched the Monterey: after bringing it back into the spotlight at its Autumn–Winter 2025 fashion show, the House of Vuitton released a gold version fitted with an automatic movement. Louis Vuitton continues the Monterey’s comeback in 2026 with two new ceramic interpretations, the “Monterey Ceramic Charm”, unveiled at the Men’s Spring–Summer 2027 fashion show and available for sale from 26 September 2026.
