Hermès Paris, 2012. Magnificent ‘Kelly’ wallet: in turquoise Epsom leather. Signature clasp, typical of the Kelly: two straps that fasten around a spool. Palladium-plated silver-coloured metal hardware. Interior with 5 compartments, including 1 zipped compartment and 12 card slots. ‘P’ date stamp within a square. H. 11 cm W. 20 cm D. 2 cm. Good condition, a few small stains on the back. The “Kelly” wallet as we know it today was introduced in the 2000s. Hermès sought to meet a growing demand for everyday luxury items by reinterpreting its iconic designs. The twist clasp and straps (the ‘sanglons’: identical to those on the original bag, they require the same ritualistic movement to be opened or closed. -The padlock pull-tab: The zip fastening on the central coin pocket features a slider in the shape of a miniature Hermès padlock.
