Description
A lidded bowl in blue-and-white porcelain, known as ‘Hue blue’, decorated with four dragons battling in the clouds for the sacred pearl. Edged with metal.
Blue underglaze mark consisting of four characters, Thieu Tri Nien Tao, meaning ‘made during the reign of Thieu Tri’, on the underside of the lid, and the mark ‘Nhat’ on the base of the bowl.
Made in China for Vietnam, 19th century, during the reign of His Majesty Thieu Tri (1841–1847).
Diameter: 17.2 cm
(With grooves).
Covered bowl decorated with four dragons amidst clouds vying for the sacred pearl. Marked ‘Thiệu Trị Niên Tạo’ on the base of both the bowl and the lid.
