Description
1931 [1931 INTERNATIONAL COLONIAL EXHIBITION] Set of two photographic prints mounted on paper: - Night view of the replica of the Tonkin Gate. Dimensions: 17.8 x 23.7 cm. - Night-time view of the reproduction of the Temple of Angkor, with the French West Africa pavilion in the background. Dimensions: 17.6 × 23.5 cm. Both photographs are inscribed in pencil on the reverse with ‘Studio G. L. Manuel Frères’. These may be photographs taken by Maurice Cloche (1907–1990), a photographer at the Deberny and Peignot studio, who documented the various exhibits at the 1931 International Colonial Exhibition. The exhibition took place in Paris from 6 May to 15 November 1931, at the Porte Dorée and in the Bois de Vincennes.
