Delaporte, naval lieutenant, head of the expedition to explore Khmer monuments in 1873, organiser of the Khmer Museum in 1874–1878, member of the Mekong and Indochina Exploration Mission in 1866–67–68. Paris, Librairie Ch. Delagrave, 1880. 462 pages. Dimensions: 27×19 cm. A rare first edition illustrated with 175 engravings and a map, including 125 original drawings by the author and 50 reproductions of the author’s photographs or drawings. Richly bound in a red publisher’s cover bearing the gilded coat of arms of the City of Paris. Gilded edges, gilt tools and Cambodian motifs on the frontispiece. A book of considerable value.
