Two paperback volumes. The first volume comprises 200 pages, the second 438. An illustrated edition featuring numerous watercolours reproduced in facsimile, printed by D. Jacomet. The first volume is numbered 238 out of 500 copies on Arches vellum. Dimensions: 28.5 × 23 cm. Copies partially untrimmed.

Jean Bouchaud developed his talent as an illustrator of novels (Claude Farrère’s *Fumée d’Opium*) and articles published in the famous weekly *L’Illustration* (notably ‘An Annamite Tourist in Yunnan’).
Lyautey, whom he had met in Morocco and who was Commissioner-General of the 1931 Exhibition, entrusted him with the painting section of the Exhibition and, in particular, with the four monumental decorative panels for the Cité des Informations.
